Barong & Kris Dance
Jambe Culture Village, Sukawati, Indonesia, 80582Barong is one of Balinese sacred dance, which as a strange creature, four legs of wild animal ( lion or tiger ), that properlled by two men as a circus.
Barong Dance narrating the mythological fight between good and bed. In the story of “Rangda” is Erlangga’s mother, the 10th century King of Bali who was condemned by Erlangga’s father for practising “black magic“.
After becoming widow, She summoned all the evil spirits in the jungle to go after Erlangga. In the fight, She and her black magic troops were so strong that Erlangga had to ask the Barong for help. Barong came with Erlangga’s soldiers and fight ensued.
Rangda casted a spell that made Erlangga’s soldiers all wanted to kill themselves, pointing their “poisoned keris” into their own stomachs and chests.
Barong casted a spell too that turned their body resistant to the sharp keris.

Tegenungan Waterfall

Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
