About the Activity

Explore Hawke’s Bay by bike – a fun, easy cycle ride to visit Hawke’s Bay leading wineries and choose a wine tasting or grab a bite to eat, before heading back to the start - Takaro base in Ahuriri. We can shuttle you to and from the Napier I-site to our base (4km distance) - please book this as an extra in your order. Shuttle times to be determined depending on your ships arrival time - our van will be waiting approx. one hour after disembarkment. (Note: not all wineries are open everyday, please note winery opening days in information below) Your route is an easy self guided cycling route (from 20km/12 miles approx. 2 hours cycling but up to 40km/24 miles if you want!) along a dedicated coastal cycle pathway beside the Pacific Ocean to trails through farmland and estuary trails where you will cycle through a birdlife sanctuary. Visit some of our world renowned wineries along the way (Crab Farm, Mission Estate, Church Road, Urban Winery), all within 7-13km away.

100 Marine Parade, Napier, New Zealand, 4110Your tour starts by jumping into our shuttle van for the short transfer to our base in Ahuriri, Napier. You will see the beautiful beach and character houses here which is a popular visitor spot.30 minutes • Admission Ticket FreeView Location

Your cycle tour starts at the Takaro Trails base at 9 Nelson Quay, Ahuriri, Napier. You will start with a tour briefing to determine how far you will be cycling on the northern route today. Get going and cycle the short distance to the National Tobacco Building, one of New Zealand's most photographed buildings with its distinctive Art Deco style. Now home to the Tony Bish Urban Winery stop for a wine tasting! Joining the cycle trail you will then meander approx 10kms through a low-lying wetland area that was all part of a large tidal inlet before the 1931 earthquake. The trail continues through sheep farming country before completing the 20km loop back to Ahuriri. End with a well-deserved lunch and drink on the deck of one of the many waterside bars or a seaside cafe in Ahuriri. 2 hours • Admission Ticket FreeView Location

Travelers CANNOT choose a custom pickup or meeting location.
You will meet us at the Napier i-site (your drop off point for the ship shuttle bus). You then catch OUR SHUTTLE to our base in Ahuriri (just 4km away) - a great way to start your adventure. You have the option to BOOK our shuttle as an extra for this tour.
