This area includes the largest and most important mangrove forests in Costa Rica. The wetland is immensely rich in flora and vegetation. It also has a wide variety of fauna, serving as a refuge site for many species of wildlife, like numerous especies of birds and mokeys, reptiles, mollusks, fish, among other species.
