About the Activity
Explore the amazing tropical forest and fauna of the eastern part of mountain range of Sierra de Bahoruco. A off road vehicle takes you along the scenic coastal road up into the mountains of Bahoruco up to the only Larimar mine in the world. The precious gemstone was discovered back in 1974 and is considered one of the country's most typical souvenirs ever since. You will be given a tour of the mining village, please make sure to wear non-slip shoes for the climb. You visit the larimar workshop and you have the oportunity to buy (not included in tour price) your own Larimar stone to take home. Afterwards your tour continues to La Cienaga where a hike on a botanical trail awaits you. You enjoy the impressive biodiversity and get to know the local flora and fauna until reaching the spectacular cave Cueva de la Virgen. Please note that your shoes may get wet during the hike as you will be walking along and also across a river.8 hours
