About the Activity

We will take you to, and return you from Košljun Island (the Monastery Island) so you can explore the history and beautiful nature of this small island! When you arrive at Košljun, in the small port, you will be greeted by it is protected as a forest park, primarily due to the forest of century-old holm oaks (Quercus ilex) There are as many as 389 plant species and 151 mushroom species on only 6 hectares. On the island, in addition to the Church of the Annunciation of Mary and the small church of St. Bernardin, there are also 3 chapels, as well as the Way of the Cross, and the Nativity chapel with the nativity scene, which was first mentioned in 1651, is especially famous. We are a taxi boat, so you can agree on the length of your stay on the monastery island with the captain of the boat. Our boat is reliable and well-equipped, so we can transfer you to the island under any weather conditions.

The islet of Košljun is located in Puntarska Draga, about 800 meters from Puant. . It can be reached by taxi boats from Punat. The perimeter of the islet of lush vegetation is slightly larger than a thousand meters, its surface is 68 thousand square meters, and the highest point is 6 meters above sea level. There is a Franciscan monastery on Košljun, where the monks hid numerous valuables collected over the centuries and preserved them until today. Several valuable collections are exhibited on the island: ethnographic, natural history, archeology, and a collection of sacred objects that are worth seeing. The Island is open for visitors every day from: 9.30 to 17.00. On Sundays only from: 10.30 to 12.30. The mass is every Sunday from 9.30 to 10.30. We are located in the center of Punat and have a wooden, red and white boat called "IVEX''. Our Taxi Boat departs from Punat harbor, from 9.30 to 15.30 (Sundays 9:15 and 12:00). The boat trip takes 8 minutes there and 8 minutes back. The optimal time to visit the museums and walk on the island is 1-1,5 hours. If you want to stay shorter or longer on the island it is possible, let the captain know!
