Las Ramblas
Barcelona, Spain, 08002La Rambla is considered the most well known street in central Barcelona. A tree-lined pedestrian street, it stretches for 1.2 kilometres (3⁄4 mile) connecting the Plaça de Catalunya in its center with the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell. La Rambla forms the boundary between the neighbourhoods of the Barri Gòtic to the east and the El Raval to the west.
The Spanish poet Federico García Lorca once said that La Rambla was "the only street in the world which I wish would never end.
The promenade is full of people during the day and until late at night. Walking along La Rambla you can see several buildings of interest, such as the Palacio de la Virreina, as well as the La Boquería market and the famous El Liceo theater, where operas and ballets are performed.
One of the side streets, a few meters long, leads to the Royal Square (plaça Reial), a square with palm trees and buildings with arcades that house a multitude of breweries and restaurants.
