The Catskills Byway doesn't officially start until we get into the town of Andes just up ahead. And although we're just getting started on our tour it is a quaint little community that's fun to explore so I recommend we spend a little time here before we get started on our tour. Note: This tour starts from Silver Lake, Andes (26731-26565 NY-28, Andes, NY 13731), which is 53 Miles. Also, a second route starts from Kingston Snack Shop, 555 NY-28A, West Hurley, NY 12491, which is 51 Miles.1 hour • Admission Ticket Not IncludedView Location

The first thing to know is that the two camels aren’t actually two different rocks. At one time, they looked no different than the rest of this rock face. But there was a small crack within one layer of the sandstone. A crack so small it was practically invisible. 1 hour • Admission Ticket Not IncludedView Location

We're coming up on the Palmer Hill Overlook. There's a gorgeous view right from the parking area and an interpretive sign here points out the distant mountains so you can better orient yourself to the area's higher peaks.
