About the Activity
It’s wild and rugged, filled with the sort of wildlife you’ve seen in movies and on TV. The great stretches of Tsavo East’s dusty plain are home to lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe and zebra. These are just a few of the many species of wildlife and birds you’ll be tracking on this 2-day short but fun safari adventure. This park is big – 11,747 sq. km (4535 sq. mi) – but the foliage is sparse allowing for rich wildlife spotting. And the reserve’s watering holes along the Galana River are a natural draw for big and small game.2 days

Tsavo National Park East

The Tsavo East National Park safari begins with a pick up at your beach hotel or at the Mombasa port.
We’ll head out early on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway passing local farms as we traverse the scenic plains. It’s only about a 2 ½ hour drive to the park so we should arrive mid-morning, ready to begin our first game drive.
The park is home to Africa’s “Big Game” – lion, leopard, Cape buffalo and herds of elephants. There’s also plenty of birdlife- 500 species! So be on the lookout for lovebird, black kite and ibis on your safari.
After lunch, we’ll head out to spot more of the abundant wildlife here – zebra, cheetah, warthog, and giraffe. Later in the day, as the temperature cools, we’ll be watching for big game emerging into the brisk evening air to forage for food.
