The climate of the Setouchi region is ideal for dyeing fabric, and during the Edo period, there were many dyed goods shops in the district of Konyamachi, near Takamatsu castle. These shops dyed daily necessities, like work clothes and kimonos, as well as storefront curtains and banners.
At this well-established dyed goods shop located below Kotohiragu Shrine, you can make your very own tote bag using the techniques of “Sanuki Norizome” glue-resist dyeing, a traditional craft from Kagawa with a long history.
After dyeing the fabric, take your bag home, remove the glue, and it will be ready to use.View Location
