Manikarnika Ghat

It is situated on the banks of the Ganges River, near Lalita Ghat and Lahori Tola, in the heart of Varanasi. The name "Manikarnika" comes from the Sanskrit words "Mani"(jewels) and "Karnika"(ear), as it is believed that the earring of the Goddess Parvati fell here. This ghat has been use for over 3,000 years, with evidence of ancient rituals and ceremonies still visible. Manikarnika Ghat is considered a sacred place to achieve "Moksha" or liberation from the cycle of rebirth. Ganga Aarti
