Manjanggul Cave
182, Manjanggul-gil, , Jeju, South KoreaIt is estimated that Manjanggul Cave was formed about 100,000 to 300,000 years ago, and Jeju Island was formed about 1.8 million years ago. Manjanggul Cave is a lava tube with a total length of about 7.4 km and partially has a multi-layered structure. It was initially connected to nearby Gimnyeongsa Cave, Field Cave, and Gaeu Jet Cave, but it is believed to have been separated as the ceiling collapsed. The main passage of Manjanggul Cave is 18m wide and 23m high, making it one of the largest lava caves in the world. There are many lava tubes around the world, but lava tubes like Manjanggul, which were formed hundreds of thousands of years ago and have well-preserved internal shapes and topography, are rare and have great academic and conservation value.
Manjanggul Cave has three entrances formed by a recessed ceiling in the middle of the cave. Currently, the second entrance is open to the general public, and only 1km of it can be explored. Within Manjanggul Cave 2 hours • Admission Ticket Not IncludedView Location3
