Ankarana Special Reserve
, Antsiranana (Diego Suarez), MadagascarThe national park is made up of an immense limestone plain, once underwater, which has gradually resurfaced through plate tectonics.
Erosion has progressively sculpted the limestone into the shape of sharp points, the Tsingy.
The park can be visited through 8 itineraries of variable length.
The Tsingys divide the park into two, a landscape of dry savannah and an evergreen forest.
Crossed by numerous gorges and rivers, Ankarana also has the largest network of interconnected underground caves in Africa with a total length of 120km. Some of them can be visited, others are sacred.
The caves of Ankarana, as well as the Tsingy, offer a particular habitat for specialized animals and plants.
Blind fish, crabs, arachnids and bats.
Eleven species of lemur live in the dry forest.
