Finger Lakes Guided Outdoor Black Walnut Tour with Tasting
Things to know
About the Activity
Discover black walnuts, New York's native nut! This experience cannot be duplicated. Black Squirrel Farms, the first licensed black walnut processor in New York State, offers an outdoor, interactive hands-on guided tour that explores the history and future of the Eastern black walnut and demonstrates how we get nuts from the tree to the table. The opportunity to crack, maple-glaze and taste black walnuts yourself is included. The guided tour segment takes 45 minutes and kicks off 15 minutes after the scheduled start time (11:15am for the 11:00 am experience, 1:45pm for the 1:30pm experience) to allow time to sign in and preview the self-guided activities available around our site. After the guided tour concludes, guests are welcome to stay and roast marshmallows, learn to guess the age of a tree, create a black walnut craft, play lawn games, look at found things under a microscope and more!1 hour 30 minutes
