About the Activity
One of the few places in the world where a community has formed within a volcanic caldera, El Valle de Antón was formed by a massive volcanic eruption approximately 5 million years ago. After the eruption, the volcano's crater collapsed, forming a volcanic caldera. Over time, the volcanic activity ceased, and the crater filled with water, creating a lake. Eventually, the water drained naturally, leaving behind a fertile valley surrounded by mountains and hills, which are remnants of the original volcanic structure.10 hours

Visitors come for its natural beauty, hiking opportunities, local handicraft markets, and the relaxing thermal waters.Due to its location and altitude, El Valle de Antón enjoys a cool, temperate climate, quite different from the warm and humid conditions in much of Panama. The area is rich in biodiversity, with a variety of flora and fauna, many of which are endemic species. Among its natural attractions are mountains, rivers, waterfalls, thermal pools, and the famous "India Dormida" (Sleeping Indian), a mountain that resembles the silhouette of a reclining woman, we get to the skirt of the hill and start the hiking for the next 2 hours, one hour going up and 1 hour going down.
