About the Activity

Visit three scenic spots within the national park: a mangrove forest kayak tour, Funangyo Falls, and Miyakozaki. Kayaking in the mangroves is a must-do activity on Amami Oshima. The vast mangroves create a unique subtropical atmosphere where you can paddle along tree-lined channels and spot small creatures on the tidal flats. The waterfall, hidden behind a local village, is a powerful and sacred place with a rich history tied to people’s lives in the past. The walk to the falls lets you soak in the lush mountain scenery of Amami. Miyakozaki, with its sweeping cape covered in dwarf bamboo, is truly one of a kind. After a 20-minute walk, you’ll suddenly see breathtaking open views of the East China Sea. Here is a hidden gem once used as a drama filming location.
