As a Historian I am able to tell you the B side story, the story that has been hidden by the elite. We don't start talking about the first Portuguese settlers, we start with the Sambaqui Men, the first indigenous group to occupy the Island of Santa Catarina. We also make sure to clarify the role slavery has played in the foundations of the Brazilian Republic.
