This content is for 2024. We are preparing for 2025. Experience Mikoshi Parade in Kichijoji, Tokyo! On September 13, 14, 15, the “Kichijoji Autumn Festival” is held. It’s a great opportunity to experience a traditional festival featuring the parade of Mikoshi portable shrines. You’ll watch as many as 11 Mikoshi, one from Musashino Hachimangu Shrine and 10 from each district of the town. Every Mikoshi group has its own distinctive style of carrying and shouting. At the highlight, all Mikoshi gather and demonstrate their performances. Join this tour and your guide will tell you all about this festival and show you around the town which is full of festival atmosphere. On the 14th you can take part in carrying a Mikoshi with the townspeople and parade it around the town. Musashino Hachimangu

It is said to have been founded in the 8th century.
After the Great Meireki Fire in the 17th century, people in Edo who lost their homes were ordered to move to this area and built a village. Since then, this Musashino Hachimangu has been the guardian shrine of this town, Kichijoji.
