Rani-ki-Vav exemplifies this mastery, designed as an inverted temple emphasizing water's sanctity, with seven levels of intricately carved stairs featuring over 500 principal sculptures and numerous minor ones depicting religious, mythological, and secular themes, often drawn from literature. The fourth level descends to a 9.5m x 9.4m tank, 23m deep, while the well's shaft, 10m in diameter and 30m deep, lies at the property's westernmost point.
