Upon departure from the Paddy Pallin Adventure Center in Katoomba at 8:45am, you'll board your vehicle and head to the area where you'll begin the first part of your adventurous day focused on acquiring your safety awareness and belaying skills. From here it's straight on to the rock to ensure you get the most out of this fantastic experience!
This course is designed for participants with little or no previous outdoor climbing experience, it is also an excellent transition from indoor to outdoor climbing. Quite simply you will experience a lot of fine Blue Mountains climbing while undertaking world standard technical rock and rope skills training.
We can also run this course on a personal training or private group basis for those who prefer to select their own dates.
The course fee includes: - All skills training and guided climbing with Nationally and Internationally Certified Climbing Instructors, lunch each day, supply and use of all equipment including ropes, helmets, harnesses, technical hardware, climbing shoes etc.
The weekend begins with training in the fundamentals of abseiling and basic rockclimbing including:
• The art of safe movement on rock
• Using climbing equipment
• Efficient use of holds
• Rope handling
• Tying knots
• Belay anchors
• Correct belay technique
• How to use various footholds & handholds
• Abseiling
• Many other climbing techniques
On this course you’ll also learn to select and use the latest in modern abseiling and rockclimbing equipment. Throughout the day your instructors will accompany you on a special selection of graduated climbs.
The second day of the course is devoted solely to the simple joys of climbing, with your instructor aiming to take you on as many varied climbs as possible. The object will be to learn and develop your skills and techniques as you climb! This is the ideal course for the beginner or indoor climbing gym user who wants to make the transition to real rock.
After this course you will be able to competently climb with experienced leaders on short moderately graded rock climbs.
All technical equipment is supplied as well as highly trained instructors to ensure your adventure is safe, fun and exhilarating.
We’ll also picnic amid the beautiful bush, with a tasty lunch supplied- Please be sure to inform us on your booking form if you have any special dietary requirements!

No redemption point. This is a direct entry ticketMany thanks for your recent booking! This is a short note to confirm your position and to provide some useful information for the day. Please read through this information in full. Participants should plan to arrive at approximately 10 minutes prior to the departure/start time. If you are running late please make every effort to call our office as early as possible. Parking All day parking can be found near the Katoomba Police Station (217 Katoomba St, Katoomba). From here it is a short walk of around 300 meters to our office. Please bring all of your clothing,bags, water etc with you when you leave your car. Please Bring A small day bag, at least 2 litres of water, sun-cream, camera (optional) and any personal medication. Participant Clothing and Footwear Please come prepared for all weather and make sure you bring or wear the following: • Sneakers or Hiking Shoes/Boots • Socks • Comfortable shorts or long pants • T-Shirt or Long sleeve shirt (sun protection is your choice!) • A synthetic or woolen fleece jumper (no cotton – It does not insulate if it’s wet!) • Rain jacket (Even if the weather is good!) • ASM can loan you some items of suitable clothing if you do not have them; however, please try to supply your own. Call us if you need to discuss. • You should wear comfortable and supportive walking shoes, such as running shoes or lightweight hiking shoes, for the walk in to the abseiling area.Equipment All technical equipment is provided by ASM. We provide harnesses, helmets, ropes etc. If you have your own technical equipment please feel free to bring it along. Weather Our programs still run in most weather conditions. Weather in the mountains can be very different to that in Sydney, and can even vary from area to area within the Blue Mountains. Your booked activity will run unless you are informed otherwise. However, if we need to cancel your scheduled course / adventure we will make every effort to contact you. Minimum numbers apply. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund Not recommended for participants with back problems or participants with heart complaints or other serious medical conditions A moderate amount of walking is involvedCancellation & Refunds
Cancellable up to 24 hours before the travel date (local supplier time) for a full refund. A 100% cancellation penalty applies for cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the start time.- For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
- Suplier may cancel the activity on account of bad weather conditions.
- Suplier may cancel the activity due to too few participants.
- Cancel at least 1 day before activity starts in Australia/Sydney time to receive 100% refund.
