About the Activity
The Chilkoot Hike and Float Tour is an active, family-oriented hiking adventure along the world famous Chilkoot Trail. This wilderness hike takes place in the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park. Learn about the Gold Rush, Native Alaskan, and natural history of the region. Depart Skagway for a 10-mile (16 km) scenic van tour along the coastline to the Chilkoot Trail trailhead and then enjoy 1.5 to 2 hours of hiking and 40 minutes on the raft. The hike is moderately strenuous so please be in good condition. Have your camera ready for occasional wildlife sightings both on land and in the water. Get away from the crowds in Skagway and get immersed in the natural beauty of the Dyea valley during the coastal forest hike and while floating down the peaceful river.4 hours

No redemption point. This is a direct entry ticketMEETING INSTRUCTIONS: Look for representative holding a SKAGWAY FLOAT TOURS sign. Please be 10-15 minutes early. For Broadway and Ore dock, meet off the pier where the dock meets land just outside the security gate next to large parking area. For the Railroad dock, there are two docking positions. For ships tendering to the small boat harbor, walk up the ramp from the tender and look left for Zone B meeting area. If you are taking shuttle bus off the pier from your ship, once you get off the bus look right for Zone B. Zone B is near Skagway Fish Co. Chilkoot Trail Hike & Float Tour includes scenic 10-mile coastal van drive to Dyea with 2 mile moderate-strenuous hike of 1.5-2 hours, approx. 40-minute float on Taiya River, and light snack. Tour duration is approx. 4 hours. Tour operates in rainy weather, please dress in layers, including waterproof rain jacket (and rain pants if desired). Wear sturdy walking shoes with good traction. Life jacket, Rubber boots, and Rain Poncho (if needed) are provided for the raft portion. Hiking pole available. Please be in good physical condition for the moderate-strenuous hike. If you have knee, ankle, back, balance. or other health issues, please consider your participation in this tour. If you are not able to hike, we have an alternative and you will meet up for the float portion. The alternate is not an equivalent of the Chilkoot hike and can involve wait time. Please advise in the Special Requirements when booking if you may need this service. Due to safety reasons and tour schedule, our guides will strongly advise you to do the alternate if they feel your participation in the Chilkoot hike to be too strenuous for your ability level. All participants must sign a Visitor Acknowledgement of Risks at the beginning of tour. Children under 18 require parent/guardian signature. Minimum age is 5 years old. Maximum group size is 11. Groups over 11 will be divided into second group with second guide/raft and with potential other guests.Cancellation & Refunds
Cancellable up to 24 hours before the travel date (local supplier time) for a full refund. A 100% cancellation penalty applies for cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the start time.- For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
- Suplier may cancel the activity on account of bad weather conditions.
- Cancel at least 1 day before activity starts in America/Juneau time to receive 100% refund.
