Built in 1958, the house was the home of Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan (1909-1979), the father-in-law of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates. Due to its prime location, it became the first landmark that travelers coming to Al Ain from Abu Dhabi would see.
