About the Activity

The excursion to the northern slope of Etna, in the area of the Sartorius craters, is perfect for visiting Etna with children. This excursion is also suitable for non-athletes who wish to have an exciting and informative excursion on Etna. It is an easy hike, which guarantees you a half day of adventure on Etna. French-speaking volcanologist guide: The expert guide will accompany you on the largest and active volcano in Europe. On the northern slope we find the largest birch forest of Etna. In order to understand how lava is produced and advances, a hike is planned on the lava flows of the 1865 eruption to reach the 8 Sartorius craters. Etna lava tunnel: During the excursion you will visit a lava tunnel of about 50 meters in length, equipped with helmet and torch.

We will update about 24 hours before the excursion to assess the weather/geodynamic situation of Etna. If the weather/geodynamic conditions are unfavourable, the excursion will be postponed to another available day or canceled and in the latter case the amount paid will be refunded free of charge. The final confirmation (or cancellation) and the exact meeting time will be communicated approximately 24 hours before the excursion. In the event of cancellation by us, the amount paid will be fully refunded. Depending on the volcanic activity, the weather conditions and the snow cover, we can modify the hours/duration/km of the excursion, change the side of Etna to visit, modify the whole itinerary and not join the maximum described altitude. In case of volcanic activity we can possibly try to approach active areas if there are any. Any cancellation by the customer will be subject to the following cancellation charges The penalty is 0% before 8 days (group tours) and 1 month in advance for the private excursion and the "Sartorius" package. Cancellation & Refunds

Cancellable up to 24 hours before the travel date (local supplier time) for a full refund. A 100% cancellation penalty applies for cancellations submitted less than 24 hours before the start time.
