Travel Itinerary
- Exclusive to travelers from this booking.
This full day tour in Transylvania is the prefect blend of history, myths and medieval tales about some of the most popular tourist attractions of Romania. Leaving Sibiu town in the morning, our first important stop will be the archaeological site of Sarmizegetusa Ulpia Traiana, the former capital of Dacia State. The UNESCO site of Sarmizegetusa Fortress will give you a better understanding of Romanians' origins before the Roman conquering. The highlight of this visit will be the sacred area where the human sacrifices were done.
We continue this tour with another interesting visit of medieval castle of Hunyadi Family. Hunyadi Castle was the residence of the brave Transylvanian Governor – John of Hunyadi, who left this castle to his son Mathias Corvinus.. The castle built in 15th century is the biggest medieval castle in Romania and it’s also considered to be one of the most haunted places in the world.
The castle integrates various architectural styles, because of the presence of some military innovations. It was meant to be not only a luxurious residence during John Hunyadi’s reign, but also a strategic point to defend the region against various attacks.
Next important stop of the tour is Alba Iulia Fortress. Having its origins back in 2nd century from Roman time, the city of Alba Iulia offers a journey through the history of Transylvania from ancient times to medieval and modern days. We’ll visit the ruins of the Roman town, the medieval fortifications, the modern fortifications made in Vauban style, the Cathoilc Cathedral – the oldest from Transylvania and the Reunion Cathedral which commemorates the Union of all Romanian provinces in a single country.
