About Monte San Franco

The Monte San Franco is a mountain massif of the Gran Sasso of Italy, located on the extreme north-western foothills of the mountain, along the western ridge, within the Gran Sasso National Park and Monti della Laga . Located between the towns of L ' Aquila and Pizzoli, it takes its name from Franco da Assergi, saint and hermit of these places and the Vomano river originates from the slopes, one of the longest in Abruzzo.
