St. Thomas the Apostle, believed to have been martyred in St. Thomas Mount. There is a small church at the top of the mount and the altar of the church is beleived to be built on the spot where St. Thomas death occured. A flight of 160 steps leads up to the the mount and to the church.
The church itself if very small, and it contains relics of more than 100 holy personalities of the catholic church. You can go even to the altar and see the exact spot where St. Thomas is beleived to be martyred. The view from the top too is pretty amazing, with the view of Chennai city in all directions, as far as the eye can see. As the airport is nearby, you can see flights flying pass extremely close, to land on the runway.
