About Cascate del Varone
The Varone waterfalls are located in the municipality of Tenno, in the province of Trento, 3 km from Riva del Garda. They are almost 100 meters high and originated from the Magnone stream, which flows under the Ravizze valley and descends towards Lake Garda. Its waters are fed by the underground leaks of Lake Tenno which for a short distance penetrates the mountain and then forms the waterfall. Lago di TennoThe Lake Tenno is a lake located in the municipality of Tenno, just steps away from the medieval village of Canale di Tenno. The basin is of unique origin and was formed following the landslide of the hill of Ville del Monte which blocked the course of its tributary. The lake has an area of approximately 195,190 m² and is the sixth-largest lake in Trentino.
Arco CastleThe Arco Castle is a castle located at Arco in the province of Trento. The castle consists of a system of buildings and fortifications that in total covers an area of over 23,000 square meters. The building embraces the top of a steep rocky cliff in a dominant position above the Sarca plain. The historic center of Arco rises at the base of this rock formation and it seems that the complex of walls of the castle once constituted a single defensive system with those of the village below.
Ponale RoadThe old Strada del Ponale offers great views of Lake Garda - it is reserved to hikers and cyclists and one of the biggest attractions of the upper Lake Garda. The Strada del Ponale connects Riva del Garda and the Valle di Ledro. Originally built in the second half of the 19th century, it was replaced by a modern tunnel only 20 years ago. Due to the immense popularity of the track with impressive views of the lake and its tunnels it has been reopened after investing 820.000 € in 2004.
SarcaThe Sarca is a river in Trentino, the main tributary of Lake Garda. With the Mincio emissary and the lake itself, it forms a single river system 203 km long. With its 78 km in length, it is the fifth-largest river in Trentino after the Adige, Brenta, Noce and Avisio; while it is the second for flow after Adige alone. The river is shallow and fast-flowing, passing through the Val di Genova, forming a number of waterfalls, of which Cascina Muta and Saft dei Can are the best known.
Lago di LedroThe Ledro lake is situated in a hanging valley that connects the valley of Churches with Lake Garda . At a height of 655 m, its surface is 2,187 km² and has a circumference of about 10 km. Bathing is possible in the lake. In the eighties , in the autumn of 2009 and in November 2011, part of the lake was tinged with red by the flowering of the alga oscillatoria rubescens , an indicator of an increased trophy of the lake.
Tremalzo PassA mountain road in northern Italy, which was laid out for strategic purposes during the First World War, leads to the Tremalzopass. The pass is located at 1664 m slm on the border between the Autonomous Province of Trento and the Province of Brescia not far from Lake Garda. The southern flank is part of the Parco Alto Garda bresciano natural park . The top of the pass is between Monte Tremalzo and Cima del Dil , the highest point of the Tremalzo road is the summit tunnel at around 1830 m slm
