St Mary Magdalene Church, Newark-on-TrentThe church of St Mary Magdalene was begun around 1160, though much of what we see today dates to the 14th and 15th centuries. Queen’s Sconce Monument is one of the country's finest remaining earthworks from the English Civil War (1642-51).
