About Laudachsee

A beautiful lake between the mountains in the Upper Austrian part of the Salzkammergut and neighbour to the larger Traunsee. It is one of the favourite excursions for hikers and mountaineers on Grünberg mountain. Lake Laudachsee is also the starting point for alpine tours up or around the impressive Traunstein at 1,691 meters.

Schloss OrtSchloss Ort is an Austrian castle situated in the Traunsee lake, in Gmunden, 19 kilometre from Vöcklabruck, the gate to Salzkammergut. It was probably built around 1140 by the Lengenbach family, was first mentioned in 1201. Then it was a moated castle with 4 corner towers.

It is a popular hiking mountain because of its excellent view over the Traunsee, the Tote Gebirge and the Höllengebirge . The Sonnsteinhütte of the Traunkirchen mountain rescue service is located near the summit. In the summit area there is a beautifully pronounced snow heather-pine forest.
