This pretty neighbourhood consists of green houses and windmills that were relocated here to create the look of an 18th century village. The village has exhibitions on chocolate making, workshops to demonstrate rare handicrafts making, like wooden clog carving, barrel making etc.. This is a well known and very touristy place, expect quite a bit of a crowd. The entrance is free but there are guided tours available as well. We also did a cheese tasting here, almost all the cheese were not intense for me(a surprise).

De Zaanse Schans
The Zaanse Schans is an open-air museum that's fun for all ages. It offers a perfectly preserved glimpse into the Netherlands' industrial past with its traditional houses, windmills, warehouses and workshops. From 1961 to 1974 old buildings from all over the Zaanstreek were relocated using lowboy trailers to the area. The Zaans Museum, established in 1994 near the first Zaanse Schans windmill, is located south of the neighbourhood.
