About Veenpark

Museum Veenpark is an open -air museum in Barger-Compascuum, Drenthe , Netherlands . With an area of ​​160 hectares, including the outdoor area that can only be reached by light railway , it is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe. In the entrance building, the permanent exhibition Veenomenale Hondsrug shows the history of the moor and peat extraction below the Hondsrug ridge, as well as the cultivation of buckwheat in the days of the moor pioneers.
