About Naulakha Temple Ghumli

Navlakha Temple at Ghumli was built by Jethwa rulers in 11th century dedicated to Sun god, Surya and is oldest sun temple of Gujarat. It has the largest base (Uagati) of the temples in Gujarat, The Archaeological Survey of India, has taken up rehabilitation of temple and develop the place as site of tourist and historical importance.

Sonkansari TempleTemple of Son Kasari is associated with the story of “sati”, built after Ghumli was destroyed due to the curse. This place is located southwesterly to the Navlakha temple on a hill summit. There is a nice pond in front of the temple. Around the Sonkansari pond, there is a large well with many temples. The larger ones consist of a square shrine with a long mandapa and the smaller ones of a cell and a porch. In recent, the mandapas have fallen.

Jamnagar
Jamnagar was founded by in 1540 A.D. as the capital of the Princely State of Nawanagar.
