About Never Summer Mountains

The Never Summer Mountains are a mountain range in the Rocky Mountains in north central Colorado in the United States consisting of seventeen named peaks. The range is small and tall, covering only 25 sq mi with a north-south length of 10 mi while rising to over 12,000 ft at over ten distinct peaks. panoramic view of the range is available from sections of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. One of the northernmost peaks, Nokhu Crags.

Mount RichthofenMount Richthofen is the highest summit of the Never Summer Mountains range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. Today, the mountain is typically climbed from Lake Agnes to the north, easily reachable from Cameron Pass. The mountain is a steep Class 3 climb that often requires travel on steep scree slopes that are not very stable. The mountain was named in honor of pioneering German geologist Baron Ferdinand von Richthofen, apparently by Clarence King's 1870 survey team.

Mahler's north face provides a relatively easy and monotonous class 2 slog up a long talus slope. Climbing Point 11,960 along with Mount Mahler would make an excellent loop hike. To do this, descend Mount Mahler to the west down the ridge.

The summit of Braddock Peak provides stunning views of the south side of the Diamond Peaks. The mountain is highly accessible in the winter via the Lake Agnes Trail. The Nokhu Hut and Agnes Hut, managed by Never Summer Nordic, sit near the base of Braddock and provide shelter for overnight adventures in this area.
