Fort Collins Museum of Discovery - 13 Things to Know Before Visiting

The museum offers a variety of exhibits on topics such as early settlers, the local environment, and the city's development. It is one of the most immersive, interactive and innovative museums in Northern Colarado. Visitors can take part in hands-on activities, such as archaeology digs and pioneer life demonstrations. In addition, the museum offers a variety of educational programs for children and adults. These programs include classes on Colorado history, science, and art. The museum also hosts a number of special events throughout the year.

The Museum features a digital dome that provide immersive, large format 360 degrees theater using digital video and audio technolology. The digital dome is used for educational shows, planatarium like experiences and movies that explore a wide range of technology, history and cultural subjects.

The gallery area of the museum exhibits themes in Natural Areas, Early Childhood, Music and Sound, Science, Wildlands and Wildlife, Live Animals, First Peoples, Sustainability and Energy, Water, People on the Move and Food, Forage and Farm. Exterior exhibits features elements, such as the Wild Zone and Natural Areas.

Fort Collins Museum of Discovery was constructed at a cost of $14 million. The planning began in 2008, with constructions starting at 2010. The Museum construction was completed on 2012 and it started functioning on the same year.

The building has over 21,000 square feet of exhibit spaces including classrooms. The whole building complex is 41,000 square feet of space. Since it has partnership with Fort Collins Museum and the Discovery Science Center, it allows the museum to feature science and history, hands-on fun and life-long learning, windows into the past and views toward the future.

The best time to go is during the summer months when the museum's outdoor exhibits are also open.

The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery is located in Larimer county, Colorado. For public transportation, take the Bustang North Line from Denver Union Station to the Fort Collins Downtown Transit Center. From there, take 8 to Willow & College stop. The museum is a short walk from the bus stop. If you are coming by car, the museum is 1 hour 20 minutes from Denver (104 km).

The entrance fee is $12.50 for adults, $9.50 for seniors, youths(3 years to 18) and students. Entry is free for 2 years and under. Presentations in the museum comes with an extra fee.

The museum is open to the public from Tueday to Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM. It is closed on Mondays amd public holidays.
