Bridal Veil Trail - 13 Things to Know Before Visiting

Bridal Veil Trail is a beautiful spot for a picnic, hike, or Instagram photo shoot. The trailhead is located just off Highway 145, about 30 minutes outside of Telluride. From the parking lot, it's a short walk to the edge of the Bridal Veil Falls, where you'll get an up-close view of the rushing water. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even take a short hike behind the falls. Just be sure to wear proper footwear and bring along a jacket, as it can be chilly in the shadow of the falls. For a longer hike, continue up the trail to the top of the ridge. The Bridal Veil Trail is a scenic hiking trail located in San Miguel County, Colorado. The trail is named for the numerous waterfalls and cascades that can be seen along the way, which resemble a bride's veil. The trailhead is located at the end of Bridal Veil Road, and the trail itself is approximately 3 miles long. The trail was originally built in the late 19th century as a way to access the many mines and mineral springs in the area. Today, the Bridal Veil Trail is a popular hiking destination for both locals and visitors alike. Hikers are treated to stunning views of the surrounding mountains, as well as several dramatic waterfalls. In addition, the trail provides access to several historical sites, including an old mining town and a former stagecoach stop.

The  best time to visit is during the summer months. From June to August, the weather is warm and sunny, making it perfect for hiking and picnicking. The trail is also relatively dry during this time of year, so you won't have to worry about getting mud on your shoes. In addition, the wildflowers are in bloom from July to September, adding a splash of color to the landscape.

To reach the Bridal Veil Trail, take County Road 3 north from Telluride for about 12 miles. The trailhead will be on your right, just before the bridge over Trout Lake Creek. From the trailhead, the trail climbs steeply for about a mile until it reaches treeline. From there, it levels off and winds through open meadows and forests of aspen and spruce. After another mile or so, you'll reach the bridal veil falls. 

There is no entrance fee to explore Bridal Veil Trail. However, keep in mind that this is a remote trail located in San Miguel county, Colorado. There are no services or water available, so come prepared with everything you need for a hike of this length. 

The trail is open year-round, although it can be quite muddy after rains or snowmelt. In summer, the trail is open from dawn to dusk, and in winter, it is open from 9 AM to 5 PM.
