From the town of Telluride, take Highway 145 northeast for about eight miles.Turn left onto Last Dollar Road and continue for another three miles until you reach a fork in the road. Bear right at the fork and continue on Last Dollar Road for another half-mile until you reach Mears Junction. From Mears Junction, follow the signs for Mears Gulch Trailhead. The trailhead is located just off of Last Dollar Road and is clearly marked. 

While there is no entrance fee to explore Mears Peak, there are some costs associated with reaching the summit. For instance, hikers will need to purchase a permit in order to park at the trailhead. 

The peak is open all year round, but the hours vary depending on the season. In the summer, the peak is open from 8 AM to 8 PM, while in the winter it is open from 9 AM to 4 PM.
