About Durant House Museum

The Durant House Museum is a gem of American history. The house was built in 1837 by father and son Thomas and John Durant and their family endured three generations living in the home until 1951. Throughout time, the stately mansion has served many purposes - from a distillery to a family farm. Residents have included veterans of the Civil War, Civil Rights activists and even renowned local abolitionists.
