In the spring, summer, and fall, guests can fish in two stocked catch-and-release ponds, take a scenic boat ride in the lake or experience wildlife observation along the shore. During winter months, visitors have the opportunity to go cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
Dr. Nathan Thomas House. Dr. Nathan Thomas House, has a storied past with rich cultural history. Built in 1857 as a private residence, it was eventually purchased by Dr. Nathan Thomas, a prominent African American doctor and businessman who used it to house himself and his family. From 1902 to 1920 the house served as the first hospital for African Americans in the county and was home to a thriving black-owned business district. There were also a number of social events held there throughout its history.
