About Lake Sils
The Lake sils is located next to the watershed of the Maloja pass, the crossing to the Bregaglia Valley. It is the largest lake in the canton of Graubünden and forms part of the Upper Engadine lake district. During the summer months, a small boat operates a scheduled service. The “Segl-Maria” ploughs across the lake from Sils Maria to Maloja on the south-western lakeshore and back again in 40 minutes, four times a day. Maloja PassMaloja Pass is a high mountain pass in the Swiss Alps in the canton of Graubünden, linking the Engadine with the Val Bregaglia, still in Switzerland and Chiavenna in Italy. It marks the divide between the Danube and Po watersheds. Lägh da Bitabergh is near the pass. The Maloja Pass is open in winter. However, after heavy snowfalls, the road may be closed for a couple of hours or for an entire day. Even if open, the road might be covered with snowmaking snow/winter tires, or chains, a necessity.
Lake SilvaplanaLake Silvaplana is a lake in the Upper-Engadine valley of Grisons, Switzerland. It takes its name from the village of Silvaplana. Lägh da CavlocA mountain lake in Graubünden near the Maloja Pass. The lake is located at 1907 m. above sea level and about two kilometers south of the pass road. A bath in the refreshing water is also worthwhile. At the lake, there are several barbecue areas and a restaurant. It is also a nice trekking destination too.
Julier PassThe Julier Pass is a mountain pass in Switzerland, in the Albula Range of the Alps. It connects the Engadin valley with the rest of Graubünden. At its summit, the pass crosses the watershed/drainage divide between the basins of the Rivers Rhine and Danube. The Julier Pass lies between Piz Lagrev and Piz Julier.
Piz CorvatschThe Corvatsch is the highest, accessible with Engadine mountain rail. Fantastic views over the high mountains are yours to enjoy from the panorama restaurant here. From the Murtèl middle station half way up, you can take a short hike to the Fuorcla Surlej mountain guesthouse and admire the reflection of the Biancograt ridge in the shimmering blue surface of the adjacent lake. You can also descend from here into the Val Roseg valley.
