An intense hike of 2.5 kilometers to immerse in the beautiful views of Western Ghat mountain ranges and valleys filled with mists.About 60 kilometers from Cochin, Thumbithullum Para (meaning in Malayalam: Dragonfly Jumping Rock) is a great destination to escape the heat of the city. This mountain peak offers great views of the small towns in the area, and presents you with a hiking adventure.
In order to reach the peak, you will have to undergo an uphill climb of about 2.5 kilometers. The path is through tall bushes and slippery rocks, and if it rained the previous day, the entire trail will be covered in mist with very low visibility. Many sections of the trail has steep drops on both sides. After reaching the first peak, you will have to walk further to the second peak to fully admire its beaty.
On a clear day, you will be blessed with amazing views of mountain ranges and a great sunrise if you reach early morning. Since the peak has unhindered views on both its east and westside, the sunset too is pretty breathtaking.
The entrance to the hike is located near to "Kattadikadavu Viewpoint". If you are unsure on the trail starting point, check with the locals.
