About Mohave County
Mohave County is in the northwestern corner of the U.S. state of Arizona. It contains parts of Grand Canyon National Park and Lake Mead National Recreation Area and all of the Grand Canyon–Parashant National Monument. Arizona Route 66 MuseumThe Arizona Route 66 Museum opened in Kingman, Arizona on September 29, 2001 during Andy Devine Days. The museum, located in the Powerhouse Visitor Center, formerly the Desert Power & Water Co. Electric Power Plant, depicts the historical evolution of travel along the 35th parallel that became Route 66.

Arizona State Route 66A surface road in the U.S. state of Arizona in Mohave and Coconino Counties. In 1914, the road was designated "National Old Trails Highway" but in 1926 was re-designated as U.S. Route 66. In 1985, U.S. Route 66 was dropped from the highway system. Parts of the highway were either absorbed into I-40, turned over to the state , or turned over to Yavapai County.

Arrastra Mountain WildernessThe 129,800-acre Arrastra Mountain Wilderness is located in Mohave, Yavapai, and La Paz counties, 100 miles northwest of Phoenix and 70 miles southeast of Kingman. The Poachie Range, which trends northwest-southeast through the north-central portion of the wilderness, rises to almost 5,000 feet. The gradual southern slopes of the range are interrupted by several isolated volcanic plugs and numerous drainages, several of which have been deeply incised into a bright orange mudstone.

Beaver Dam Mountains Wilderness (Arizona)The Beaver Dam Mountains Wilderness now contains a total of 17,600 acres and is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Arizona contains approximately 15,000 acres. Utah contains approximately 2,600 acres.The Mojave Desert landscape of the Beaver Dam Mountains features multitudes of Joshua trees. Notable wildlife include desert bighorn sheep, the threatened desert tortoise, and large numbers of raptors.

Black CanyonThe Black Canyon of the Colorado is the canyon on the Colorado River where Hoover Dam was built. The canyon is located on the Colorado River at the state line between Nevada and Arizona. The western wall of the gorge is in the El Dorado Mountains, and the eastern wall is in the Black Mountains of Arizona. The canyon formed about 15 million years ago during the Miocene Basin and Range uplift. Black Canyon gets its name from the black volcanic rocks that are found throughout the area.

Black MesaThe Black Mesa of northwestern Arizona is the extreme southern section of the Black Mountains. It is a notable mountain section, since the entire Warm Springs Wilderness comprises the entire mesa; it is separated to the north from the Black Hills range by a canyon and road; the north side of the canyon is the southern border of the adjacent Mount Nutt Wilderness, thus comprising a two-sectioned wilderness region.

It forms the north-south border of southwest Mohave County as it borders the eastern shore of the south-flowing Colorado River from Hoover Dam.The mountain range is generally 10-15 mi wide, narrower in the north, and west of the Detrital Valley northeast.

Bonelli HouseBonelli House is at the corner of Fifth and Spring Streets in Kingman, Arizona. The house was built in 1915.eorge Bonelli built the house in 1915 with local Peach Springs Tuff stone from Metcalfe Quarry. The home is two stories, rectangular, and has a low hipped-roof with dormers. The veranda on three sides is supported by square wooden pillars.The property belongs to the City of Kingman and is operated as a historic house museum by the Mohave County Historical Society.

Boundary ConeBoundary Cone is a geologic promontory located in the western foothills of the Black Mountains in Mohave County, Arizona. The peak is to the east of the Mohave Valley, northeast of Needles, California, and southeast of Bullhead City. The peak is about 4 miles southwest of the mountain community of Oatman and 12 miles east of the Colorado River.

Cattail Cove State ParkA beautiful state park located in the shore of Lake Havasu. It offers a beach , boat ramp, and 61 campsites and so more. There are also boat-in campsites along the lake shoreline within the park. The park offers a 4-lane launch ramp and a beautiful white sandy beach with a swim area.

Cerbat Foothills. Recreation AreaThe 11,300 acre Cerbat Foothills Recreation Area is a mixture of federal, state, county, city, and private lands. This Area includes 37+ miles of trails with several trailheads. Trails are for hiking, equestrian and mountain biking.

Crossman PeakCrossman Peak is the Mohave Mountain range's highpoint and is located near Lake Havasu City in western Arizona. Even though the summit elevation is modest by Arizona standards, the elevation of nearby Lake Havasu is only 450 feet, so Crossman Peak rises an impressive 4,500 feet from the lake.

Davis DamDavis Dam spans the Colorado River in Pyramid Canyon 67 miles downstream from Hoover Dam and 88 miles upstream from Parker Dam.The earth fill dam begins on the Nevada side, but it does not extend to the Arizona side on the east. Instead, there is an inlet formed by earth and concrete, that includes the spillway. The hydroelectric power plant is beside the inlet.

Emerald CoveEmerald Cove is a beautiful, secluded cove on the Colorado River, a few kilometers downstream from the Hoover Dam. This area is known for its clear greenish-blue waters. Emerald Cove gets its name from the beautiful green water that is created by the sun reflecting off the white silt that lines the bottom of the cove.

Fortification HillFortification Hill is a prominence adjacent to Lake Mead in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The mountain prominence is plateau-like, or mesa-like with its highpoint at the southeast terminus, and sloping north and northwestwards toward Lake Mead. It is near a southern section of Lake Mead, and just northeast of Hoover Dam. It can easily be seen eastward across Las Vegas Bay or from the two northern mountain terminuses of Eldorado Mountains, or the Black Mountains.

Giganticus Headicus“Giganticus Headicus is a giant, tiki-style head constructed in 2004 by area artist Gregg Arnold. The statue is 14 feet tall and crafted from cement, chicken wire, and styrofoam. This unique work of art can be found in Antares Point near Kingman, Arizona, along Route 66. It’s adjacent to the former Kozy Corner Trailer Park.
