Blanca PeakBlanca Peak is the fifth highest summit of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The mountain is considered to be the eastern boundary of the Dinetah, the traditional Navajo homeland. It is associated with the color white, and is said to be covered in daylight and dawn and fastened to the ground with lightning. Culebra CreekCulebra Creek is a stream in Costilla County, Colorado. It begins at the junction of El Valle and Carneros creeks and flows into the Rio Grande 11 miles east of Manassa, Colorado.The creek is the source of the San Luis People's Ditch, an acequia, which was given the highest priority water rights in the state. The entire Culebra Creek Watershed supports fourteen acequias.

Culebra PeakCulebra Peak is the highest summit of the Culebra Range of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in the Rocky Mountains of North America. It is one of the only fourteeners on private land. Access is limited, and a fee is charged to climb the peak. Ownership of and access to the land, both for recreational and other activities, have been controversial issues for many years, involving multiple lawsuits and even occasional violence.

Fort Garland Museum The Colorado Historical Society restored the fort and opened the Fort Garland Museum in 1950. Restored and reconstructed buildings include the adobe Commandant's Quarters, where Kit Carson and his wife once lived the cavalry barracks with exhibits of Hispanic traditional arts and 19th century transportation artifacts, and officer's quarters. Permanent exhibits focus on Kit Carson and Buffalo Soldiers. The museum is administered by History Colorado.

Lobatos BridgeThe Lobato Bridge is the southernmost bridge over the Rio Grande River in Colorado. It sits on County Road G between Antonito and Jaroso, Colorado and was originally constructed in 1892 by Joseph F. Thomas. Also known as the Old State Bridge, it has been listed on the National Registry of Historic Structures since 1985. The bridge stretches 313.9 feet long with a deck width of 15.7 feet.

Mount LindseyMount Lindsey is a high mountain summit on the Sierra Blanca Massif in the Sangre de Cristo Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 14,048-foot summit and most of the southern flank of the mountain are privately held, but access to the summit is allowed. It is a good trekking destination and also there are so many things to see and do.

Mountain Home ReservoirMountain Home Reservoir is located in Costilla County, Colorado. The dam was built in 1912-1913. The reservoir is the site of the Mountain Home Reservoir State Wildlife Area, managed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife. This lake is 130 acres in size. When fishing, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Rainbow Trout.

The district contains an important collection of buildings that includes the county courthouse, the convent and Church of Most Precious Blood, numerous residences, and the town’s commercial core. Sanchez ReservoirSanchez Reservoir lies in far southcentral Colorado, west of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Costilla County. Its inflows include Ventero Creek and the Sanchez Canal, a diversion canal that takes water from Culebra Creek and two other creeks. Colorado Parks and Wildlife manages fishing at the reservoir, which forms the Sanchez Reservoir State Wildlife Area.

Smith ReservoirSmith Reservoir is located in Costilla County, Colorado, south of Blanca in the San Luis Valley.The lake and the land immediately surrounding it are also designated as the Smith Reservoir State Wildlife Area. It offers trout fishing, waterfowl hunting, and camping.

Trinchera PeakTrinchera Peak is a high mountain peak at an elevation of 3.860m above the sea level, located at the cornerstone of three counties in southern Colorado. As the cornerstone of three counties--Huerfano, Las Animas, and Costilla--the western slope is entirely on private land and unfortunately is not open to the public. The eastern slope is accessible from the Blue Lake area as well as the Purgatorie Campground.
