Beaver Creek ResortBeaver Creek Resort is a major ski resort in the western United States, near Avon, Colorado. The resort comprises three villages, the main Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead to the west. The resort is owned and operated by Vail Resorts which operates multiple additional resorts. Beaver Creek is a regular host of World Cup events, usually in early December.
Blue Sky BasinBlue Sky Basin is the most recent expansion to Vail Ski Resort in Colorado in the United States. It is the most debated and controversial ski area expansion in Colorado history. It opened to skiers in 2000 despite conflict about whether the expansion would endanger the lynx, a mountain cat re-introduced into the Colorado wilds.
Cross Creek TrailheadCross Creek Trail is an out-and-back trail that takes you by a lake located near Minturn, Colorado. The trail begins following a ridge and then drops down to Cross Creek. There is a bridge crossing at 1 mile in a meadow that is usually filled with wildflowers. This, or a view of Mount of the Holy Cross from a rock outcropping a bit further, make nice destinations for a short day hike.
Missouri Lakes TrailThe Missouri Lakes trail is 4.4 miles long. It begins at Missouri Creek Road #704 and ends at Cross Creek Trail and Fancy Pass Trail #2006: The first mile of the trail passes diversion dams and water pipelines. Just past mile 1, the trail crosses the creek at the mouth of a miniature canyon, creating a breath taking view.The trail climbs a short, steep distance to the basin that holds the Missouri Lakes.
Sylvan Lake State ParkSylvan Lake State Park is a Colorado state park located in Eagle County, 10 miles south of Eagle, Colorado. The 1,548-acre park established in 1987 and surrounded by the White River National Forest includes a 42-acre lake and 1.5 miles of trails. Facilities include a visitors center, boat ramp, campsites, cabins, yurts and picnic sites.
