Among these remains, the most remarkable one is the Mahastupa, which is also known as Adurru Buddhist Stupa. Historians believe that the Adurru Buddhist Stupa was constructed during the reign of the Indian emperor Ashoka, whose empire covered much of the Indian subcontinent.
