Most of the pictures here are from the well known Vigeland installations at the park. There 212 granite and bronze sculptures here.

Coming from another part of the world, it was a bit strange to see so many nude sculptures but got used to it pretty quickly. The monolith, the most popular attraction here is composed of 121 human figures rising towards the sky. The monolith is surrounded by 36 figure groups representing a circle of life. 

Frogner Park

This is a privately owned contemporary art gallery in a nice building overlooking the waterfront of Oslo. It has collections from both Norwegian and international artists and hosts six or seven temporary exhibitions each year. 

The unique feature of this museum is outdoor showers,  in case someone jumps from their garden into the sea. 

Astrup Fearnley Museum

Crossed off a big item from the bucket list by visiting Preikestolen. 

The hike towards the rock is a bit long but the views are indescribable. The lakes, fjords, scenic roads, everything mesmerising. What was surprising is that there are no safety Guards at the edge of the rock and you can go to the tip if you feel extra courageous. I tried it to an extend, it was scary. Being so remote, if something happens it’s also extremely difficult for the rescue team to reach. There was an injured person while we were there and an helicopter was circling the place to make sure the person was alright until the medics arrived. 

One thing to keep in mind that if the weather is not so great, Preikestolen will be closed. So if you are planning to visit, do checkout the weather frequently. Nele anticipated this and we went a day earlier than the one we actually booked seeing the forecast and just like her prediction, Preikestolen was closed the next day due to bad weather. 

You can reach here by taking a ferry from Stavenger to Tau and a bus from Tau to the starting point of the hike. While the hike itself is not that hard, the climate can be very cold and windy. Also the route is quite long so anticipate around 3-5 hours for the hike and then another three hours for transportation if you are coming from Stavenger.

The museum looks like an oil platform from far away. It focuses and exhibits informations about offshore petroleum activities in the north sea.

There is a lot of exhibits here- different kinds and sizes of drill bits, oil pipelines, the evolution of oil platforms so and so on. It also explains the pressure and temparture differences the workers has to face, the safety evacuation procedures they have to follow, the history of oil extractions in Norway etc..

This is a very interesting museum and you may have to spend around 1 to 2.5 hours here for absorbing everything.
