About Mosquito Pass
Mosquito Pass is one of the highest mountain passes in the state of Colorado. It’s a dangerous route that can only be accessed by an unpaved 4×4 road nicknamed “The Highway of Frozen Death”. One of the highest passes in the state, Mosquito Pass can be traversed only on foot, on an offroad motorcycle or with a proper four-wheel drive. Mosquito PeakMosquito Peak is a 200 highest mountain located in the Mosquito Range and it is 2 miles north of Mosquito Pass. The Mosquito range is better know for its extensive mining history. The best time to climb this mountain is in the summer. It can be climbed in the winter because road access is within 5 miles to the summit but due to the steep sections it is not advisable unless the avalanche danger is low.
