About West Point Dam
West Point Dam, is an impressive engineering feat. It was built across the Chattahoochee River around 1950 for flood control and power production. The dam is composed of nearly 3 million cubic yards of embankment which makes it one of the largest earthen dams in the US accredited by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Stretching over 4 miles long and 200 feet high, the dam offers a variety of recreation opportunities.
