About Rjukan Falls

Rjukan Falls is a waterfall of 104 metres in the western part of the West fjord valley in Tinn, a municipality in the county of Vestfold og Telemark, Norway, west of the industrial town Rjukan. The waterfall is a part of the Måne river, earlier a major tourist attraction, being one of the first floodlighted waterfalls by electricity produced by the same waterfall. In 1905 Rjukan Falls was built out to produce hydro electric power for the saltpetre production when Norsk Hydro was established.

Norwegian Industrial Workers MuseumAt the Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum, you will get a close encounter with Norwegian industrial - and war history. It is perhaps best known for its presentation of Rjukan's war history. Vemork was the location of one of the most important acts of sabotage during the Second World War when Norwegian saboteurs prevented the Germans from developing nuclear weapons using the heavy water produced here.

GaustatoppenThe highest mountain in the Vestfold og Telemark county and is famous for its mesmerizing views, as one can see an area of approximately 60,000 km², one-sixth of Norway's mainland. The summit is accessible on foot in the summer, on a rocky pathway of medium difficulty, although the southern side of the mountain is very dangerous and inaccessible. The wreckage of an airplane crash lies there, as it is too difficult to remove it.

BletoppenBletoppen is the highest summit on Blefjell, 1342 meters above sea level. Bletoppen is located in Tinn in Telemark. The view is nice in all directions. Places that are visible are: Gaustadtoppen, Hardangervidda, Jonsknuten, Skrimfjella. The summit is most easily reached by following a marked trail from the parking lot at Nordstul, 3 to 4 hours hike in the summer. Numerous shorter paths starts at the road to Fosskard and goes up the steep western side of Blefjell.
