BanSagar DamBansagar or Ban Sagar Dam is a multipurpose river Valley Project on Son River situated in the Ganges Basin in Madhya Pradesh, India with both irrigation and 435 MW of hydroelectric power generation .
Bargi DamBargi Dam in Jabalpur is constructed on the Narmada River and is one of the first completed dams in Madhya Pradesh which is 69 meters high. The magnificent picture of the Bargi Dam is a treat to the senses. It is also a good picnic spot and it comprises of two major irrigation projects, named Bargi Diversion Project and Rani Avantibai Lodhi Sagar Project.
Choral DamThis is a huge dam located in the heart of Indore constructed around the backwaters of River Narmada. A large number of lush green trees and small hills surround the place making it even more attractive. There is boating and so many other activites around the dam.
Gandhi Sagar DamThe Gandhi Sagar Dam is a multipurpose dam located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It was constructed between 1955 and 1960, with the main purpose of providing irrigation to the nearby districts. The dam is built on the Chambal River, and its reservoir has a capacity of 7.3 billion cubic meters. In addition to irrigation, the Gandhi Sagar Dam also provides drinking water to approximately 1 million people and generates hydroelectric power.
Halali DamA huge reservoir in the distrcit of raisen built on the Halali River. This dam is popular among locals of Bhopal as an excellent spot for picnic and boat rides. Apart from this, the reservoir is home to aquatic life forms such as catla, mrigal, mystus, rohu and chitala.
Indira SagarDam (Punasa Dam)This is Asia's prestigious hydropower project built over the river Narmada. The construction of the main dam started in 1992. The site features a concrete gravity dam which is 92 metre tall and 653 metre long. it withholds the largest reservoir in India, with a capacity of 12.22 billion cu m . The dam was built as a joint venture between Madhya Pradesh irrigation and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation. It was commissioned on May 2005.
Madikheda DamMadikheda Dam is a multipurpose structure. This is a 60 MW Hydropower project Dam built upon the Sindh River, a tributary of the Yamuna River. This is a good picnic spot in this area with its picturesque location and the serene surroundings. This is not only a power project but also a water source for those local areas.
Morwan DamA huge dam that has been constructed over the river Gambhiri which was mainly used for irrigation and drinking water purpose of this area. Boating facilities are also available near the dam, along with a large garden. A nice place to hang out.
Satpura DamThis is a man-made lake created as a reservoir for the Power Plant which is surrounded by dense forests and hills. A lot of tourists come here during the monsoon time to view the opening of the shutters and to feel the power of water.
TIGHRA DAMTighra Dam was constructed in 1916 on the Sank River and is a major source of water for the city of Gwalior. This dam has been constructed in the vicinity of eleven villages. The villagers depend on this dam for their irrigation, drinking and domestic purpose. The dam is an engineering marvel that has a capacity of 4.8 million cubic meters.
