Affenberg LandskronThe Affenberg Landskron is a zoo in Villach and at the same time Austria's largest monkey enclosure with around 160 Japanese macaques . The keeping of animals is semi-free compared to other zoos, which means that the animals live in a fenced, wooded property, which represents a 40,000 m² habitat for the monkeys. The Affenberg is a category A zoo operation under Austrian law. It has around 120,000 visitors annually and does not receive any public funding.

Afritzer SeeThe Afritzer See is a lake in Carinthia . It is located in the region of the valley north of Villach in the municipality of Feld am See. It is located in the region valley in the Nock Mountains at an altitude of 752 m above sea level. The lake is the remnant of what was once a larger lake. This was divided by a rock fall from the Mirnock. Since the lake is located in an often windy valley furrow, it does not reach the high water temperatures of other Carinthian lakes.

Alpe-Adria-TrailThe Alpe-Adria-Trail connects the three regions of Carinthia, Slovenia and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and covers a total of 43 stages. It has been designed mainly with pleasure hikers in mind. The Trail runs mainly through the non-Alpine area and as far as possible there are only slight differences in altitude.

AnkogelA majestic mountain in the Ankogel Group in the eastern High Tauern range in Austria. It is the second highest mountain in the group, the Hochalmspitze being higher at 3,360 m. A cable car from Mallnitz goes up to 2,631 m on the mountain, making Ankogel one of the most accessible alpine peaks. It is also a good trekking destination and also it offers beautiful views too.

Ankogel GroupThe Ankogel Group lies in the eastern part of the Hohe Tauern. It covers the northern area of Carinthia and the southern area of Salzburgerland. The Ankogelgroup is often divided in the 'Ankogelgroup' and Reisseckgroup'. The Reisseckgroup is a more rough massif, the Ankogelgroup contains a lot of glaciers.

AnkogelbahnThe Ankogelbahn is a cable car from Mallnitz to the Ankogel. It is a group shuttle-lift , with two cabins in the first section and three cabins in the second section, one behind the other, i.e. firmly clamped to the pulling rope. In contrast to a conventional gondola lift , however, these groups of cabins move back and forth between the stations on their suspension cable.

Burg SommereggSommeregg is a medieval castle near Seeboden in the Austrian state of Carinthia, Austria. It is situated in the foothills of the Nock Mountains at an altitude of 749 m. The fortress served as an administrative seat in the Upper Carinthian estates held by the Counts of Ortenburg and Celje; it later was the residence of the Graben and Khevenhüller dynasties; ministeriales of the Austrian House of Habsburg. In the Torture Museum, the Middle Ages are shown from its terrible side on an exhibition.

Dobratsch Nature ParkThe Dobratsch Nature Park is situated on the Villacher Alpe in Carinthia. It has long been one of the Austrian regions which has dedicated itself to soft tourism. In the winter walkers, snowshoe hikers and ski tourers share the quiet, 2,166-metre-high mountain ridge and its slopes. The hiking trails are signposted and lead to the summit, where visitors can stop for refreshments in the Gipfelhaus.

Flattnitz PassFlattnitz Pass is a high mountain pass in the Austrian Alps. It was located in the state of Carinthia, connecting Glödnitz in the Gurk valley with Stadl on the Mur river, beyond the border with Styria. The pass height comprises a dispersed settlement with a high-altitude sanatorium and an Alpine lake. It is a popular destination for hikers and for cross-country skiers in winter.

Gailtal AlpsThe Gailtal is a valley running from East Tyrol to Carinthia . It starts in Kartitsch and ends in Villach . The Gailtal does not form a hydrogeographical unit: the majority of the valley is drained by the Gail towards the east, where it flows into the Drava at the village of Maria Gail ; the westernmost section of the valley, on the other hand, is drained by the Gailbach towards the west. The Kartitscher saddle is the valley watershed.

GarnitzenklammThe Garnitzenklamm is a natural experience in the Carinthian Gailtal. Not far from Hermagor, near Möderndorf, the Garnitzenbach has dug a 4.5 kilometer long gorge into the rock of the Carnic Alps over the course of history, creating a breathtaking natural gem. Thundering waterfalls, towering cliffs, emerald green bays, colorful rock and rock formations, spectacular climbing systems as well as rare, protected plants and vortex pots shaped over millions of years.

GartnerkofelThe Gartnerkofel is one of the three distinctive mountain peaks on the Carinthian Nassfeld and a beautiful mountain tour for the whole family . With the starting point at the top station of the Gartnerkofel chairlift , the Gartnerkofel hike is an easy summit tour. The ascent runs in a pleasant, even incline, partly over the slopes of the ski area. The last stretch to the summit cross requires a bit of stamina and a head for heights. But there are no really exposed spots on the whole way.

GerlitzenGerlitzen is a small and friendly resort for beginners and improving skiers to practise their skills. The resort has excellent beginner areas and wide, safe runs on well-groomed slopes. The lifts from the Kanzelhoehe, from Kloesterle and from Birkenhof come together up on the 1911 m high Gerlitzen Alpe. The entire ski resort lies at your feet from up there and you can ski down in all directions.

Glocknerhaus KärntenThe Glocknerhaus is a mountain inn at 2,132 m above sea level and is located on the Großglockner High Alpine Road, a little below the end of the Pasterze, in the municipality of Heiligenblut am Großglockner in Carinthia. The hut can be reached directly by car or bus via the Grossglockner High Alpine Road and is the starting point for numerous and sometimes very demanding mountain tours. But bikers, climbers and motorcyclists also appreciate the house as a stop for refreshments.

Goldberg GroupThe Goldberg Group is a sub-group of the Hohe Tauern mountain range within the Central Eastern Alps. It is located in Austria, in the states of Salzburg and Carinthia. Its highest peak is the Hocharn. The name of the group is related to the rich mineral ores of the area and the associated historic mining.
