Burg SommereggSommeregg is a medieval castle near Seeboden in the Austrian state of Carinthia, Austria. It is situated in the foothills of the Nock Mountains at an altitude of 749 m. The fortress served as an administrative seat in the Upper Carinthian estates held by the Counts of Ortenburg and Celje; it later was the residence of the Graben and Khevenhüller dynasties; ministeriales of the Austrian House of Habsburg. In the Torture Museum, the Middle Ages are shown from its terrible side on an exhibition.
Hochosterwitz CastleHochosterwitz is an outstanding example of a medieval fortress and stronghold. It is on a 172-metre high dolomite rock near Sankt Georgen am Längsee, east of the town of Sankt Veit an der Glan in Carinthia. A specific feature is the access way to the castle passing through a total of 14 gates, which are particularly prominent owing to the castle's situation in the landscape. The castle mountain has been lived on since the Bronze Age.
Pyramidenkogel TowerThe Pyramidenkogel observation tower is situated at the top of the 850-meters-high Pyramidenkogel mountain, near Klagenfurt, the capital of Austria’s southernmost state Carinthia. It was completed in 2013 and it’s simply fantastic. With a total height of 100 metres, it’s the highest wooden viewing tower in the world. Height accomplishments aside, the design of the structure is itself a marvel – the helix-shaped tower is both a gorgeous work of architecture.
